What with bean sprouts being in a can or dubiously fresh and expensive around here I'm going to try sprouting some lentils. I've been sprouting things for my garden so this should be about the same!

I'm starting with a soak with the water temp initially at 75°F.

Enjoy.
I don't think I tried lentils....

I got a batch of mung beans on the go.
They are soaking in unknown temperature of water ;)

Good idea - haven't done in a while.
Absolutely love sprouts. Fun to do too. I usually use a large glass jar with mesh secured over the mouth - easy to give them a rinse and drain the water then slightly invert the jar and give shake every so often.

I do the same as ZCook
My mung beans are starting. Commercial pack, not for sprouting, but it works.
I should try some others later, dried green beans & chick peas. Just a tiny bit to see if it works

I've no idea how old these are. I should think if they're going to sprout they'll be swelling and splitting soon enough. 🤞

My lentils were showing signs of sprouting this morning when I got up. Given that I put them (without soaking) on the sill at 5 pm yesterday, that is fast: 15 hours.
