I'd always offer my guests the best food I can manage!
The pay increase was modest, but the title change was worth more: I've moved up from Business Analyst to Project Manager. It will look good on the resumé

To be honest, I've been doing the work without the official title (IT Project Manager) for a while now. Although it has been mostly implementation of new network and communication technology, I also specialize in training and writing user manuals. Jack of all trades, master of none in particular :roflmao:

That used to be a problem for me when I got involved with projects I didn't understand... as the techno-babble flowed and I zoned out, I would fall asleep! Thank god this hasn't happened in quite some time :oops:

I'm an HR Program Manager for an IT company, we're almost colleagues 😀

Back in the late 80s, early 90s, I was a Marketing Director for an accounting software company. I had a college degree in art. I constantly had meetings with the programmers where I had to say, "Tell me what that means to potential customers who are NOT programmers!"

The only thing I had in common with those people was that we both liked to drink beer. We would butt heads all day long, and then go drink beer and have a great time. :cheers:

Oh, I got along great with the programmers and IT people (mostly guys back then). We went to lunch together, they came to my parties, and I took a few of them out on my boat. There was no animosity, we would regularly insult each other, and laugh about it. To me, they were a bunch of nerds with no grasp on reality. To them, I was a guy who got a college degree in art. But, we got to know each other, and respect each other. As a bonus, we drank a lot of beer and had fun together.

It's still mostly guys, but I get along fine with them and they're always respectful around me. I like the nerdiness, I end up learning a lot of stuff 😀
