I missed the super blue blood moon on Wednesday due to clouds and rain but on Thursday evening I watched the supermoon rise and chased it on my way home after a bike ride. It was brilliant and redder as it first rose.

This year we went to our local Chinese restaurant for Burns Night, it was Chinese Burns night, I didn't want to go but my husband twisted my arm.

Local Tesco supermarket cafe has started doing eggs benedict and eggs royale - and it is actually very good. Well done them I say - way better than the usual iffy cafe fodder we seem to be fobbed off with

Our new local Co-op closed last Monday and re-opened on Thursday as a Budgen's. Very quick, but then they didn't have to refit the shop again, just change some signs and install new card machines. The prices aren't too bad for a corner shop, and they do stock some things that I haven't seen in there for a while (dark Bounty bars, anyone ). One advantage is that, while the Co-op used to give Tesco's club card points on their petrol, Budgen's give club card points on everything except the fags and booze.

Our local Lloyds chemist has changed hands, it is now Dhoots, never heard of them before ​
