I've been using an oven regularly for what?...40+ years, and I still get caught out every time, opening the door to check something or rotate a pan and get a blast of hot air that fogs my specs and scorches my eyebrows.
 
I'm sorry I haven't been about for a while, have been in a bit of a blue funk as I came to the conclusion that I'm not as much of an experienced baker as I thought I should be, and I finally realized where I had been going wrong, basic stuff. I feel like giving up on the baking for a while and tossing out stuff.

I wouldn't toss stuff out. Maybe box them up and put them away for a while, take a step back, and see what happens.

In case anyone remembers we had a car crash 9 weeks ago. The car was totaled buy a young driver. The cops charged her with dangerous driving. Her Austrian insurance company tried to low ball me, they also told me that I had to dispose of the wreck. They valued the wreck at 1500 euro.They then without my knowledge claim to have held an online auction for the wreck with the best bid being a virtual match for theirs. I have just finished 8 weeks of fun for me and torture for them. I proved that telling me I had to retain the wreck was not regulated by law here. I proved that they had no right to conduct the auction. I proved that the wrecks value was 4000 euro and that the "winning " bidder was a relative of the insurance employee. On Monday we were due to have a three way conference call with the Insurance Ombudsman. Friday I had a call from the head of the Insurance company, a very pleasant guy who spoke perfect English. After I had regaled him with the facts. He doubled the cars valuation and we eventually agree a 4000 euro payment for pain suffering and emotional distress. I agreed to sign a none disclosure statement which after the money is in the bank I may or may not abide buy. I'm happy with the result but I would have liked it to go on longer. I found it therapeutic'

I too wish you had led them a little while more. I love doing that kind of thing to people who try to cheat.
In 2014 on December 11th to be exact I drove a car into a canal which drowned head down from which I jumped out while the car was halfway in the air-I know it's hard to believe but when death appears before you, you can do anything. The insurance company had an inquiry and the officer said that they believed I did it in order to condemn the car for insurance. I asked him "I am from Kandy, the hill country and I could've pushed the car down a hill which would have been still rolling down until this day. Why do you think this happened in the flattest area in the country?" The guy thought for a while and said, "for that I have no answer I said what I was told by the company." He ended the inquiry and payment was okayed within a few days.
 
It's been a bit chilly of late particularly overnight (a low of 15°C). But today it's 3 pm and hitting 33°C. Strange weather.
