In NV they use those clay tiles a lot. They last well but eventually the paper underneath dry rots, 20 or 30 years...
We had those on our house in Southern AZ, but rarely did we have hail. Here in Cowboyville, Northern AZ it gets real bad with hail!!

Umm, I think it's called roofing paper 😁

I don’t really know what you mean by a metal roof? The only type of metal roof I’m familiar with is the corrugated type and I have a feeling it wouldn’t be that?
There are 2 choices in Australia. Corrugated steel or something called Colorbond.

The garage is corrugated steel (it's cheaper) though older houses typically have it as well, and the house is Colorbond. (Colorbond does do corrugated steel though just to complicate matters  )

Roofing

Its an Australian company where the company name is used to indicate a range of products (similar to Delux).

My wife’s 83-year-old mom, who we took along with us on our 30th anniversary trip to Cancun, tripped and fell on a curb, smacking her forehead on the sidewalk. She has a massive bump on her forehead, and she’s in a hospital now. She’s lucid, and aware of what’s going on, which is a good sign. She has slight fractures in her skull, and she’s in ICU now. But we have no medical coverage in Mexico. What a mess.

She’s going to be in the hospital at least three more days, receiving antibiotics. We were supposed to return home in four days, and we will probably be extending our trip. Having an extended trip in Paradise would’ve been a dream come true before, but it’s more of a nightmare now. We will have to pay whatever additional expenses for the hotel, not to mention hospital expenses. There may be some coverage from insurance, but we can’t find out about that until the office is open on Monday.

That does look noisy!

Thats awful. I hope the bill isn’t too painful.

I'm not completely sure but I don't think roofing paper even exists in the UK! From what I've seen of house construction in the USA and UK, the techniques are completely different. Wood vs bricks and mortar, drywalls inside the houses, etc.
We do use a liner under tiles in the UK but not felt liner, nowadays it’s a breathable waterproof membrane.
I think they switched to tarp like liners some time in the 50’s but I’m not sure.

I do know a cos I’m total geek that overlapping roof tiles came to Britain with the romans and then were the favoured roof material after a fire (bigger than the great fire of london) wiped out a large area because the building materials (wood and thatched roofing) were so flammable.
