How's your dad doing? Hopefully he is on the mend and going home soon. How did your brothers respond?

He's ok. His main problem isn't a minor old undiagnosed coronary, it's AF. So that's infinitely preferable than the major heart attack he believed he was in there for

He checks his heart rate with a finger tip probe every now and then. It's usually around 55bpm on resting but this time his heart was beating at 154bpm. So he decided the probe must be broken and ordered another one, when it arrived it said the same.
He rang 111 (our medical advice number) who transferred him to a Doc specialising in coronary care who ordered an ambulance.

They've kept him in while they try to ascertain the cause of the AF and get the meds right.

It's looking like they've achieved the right dosing and he'll be home soon

Ahhh, good news!

My mom had AF and had a pacemaker put in many years ago, well before she passed (her heart was not her cause of death). A good friend of mine also had AF much later and got a watchman. He's ticking strong ever since!

I suffer from it and have done for over 30 years. Unfortunately since being in hospital with an unrelated issue earlier this (which also uncovered another heart condition), the medication which kept it under control has had to be changed. I am now suffering frequent bouts of AF and more often than not irregular beats all day. This is why I have not been cooking so much or indeed doing anything much. It's all being monitored and drugs are being adjusted but it's taking a long time.

Not a candidate for pacing, ablation or ICD?
Sorry it’s effecting your daily life so much. Not being able to cook or feel like it must really suck.
