The General Chat Thread (2025)

Well, damn it all!
I went out to the car early this morning to run an errand.
As we come out the door, into the garage, we hit the button to open the automatic garage door.
For some off reason it just stopped part ways up.
I go around to the back end of the car and the electric tailgate was out for some strange reason and it caught of the garage door bracket.
Well damn it all!
It's not terribly bad damage to the tailgate, and none that I can see to the garage door, but it's just the principle of it all.
How on God's green Earth did that tailgate get opened?
All I can figure is one of our two "fobs" got hit in the wrong place sometime during the night... HEH! That just made me think of something else... how long was the interior dome light on in the cabin of the car while the tailgate was open? I sure hope now that the battery is okay.
In any case, I'm going to try to use the touch-up paint the car dealer gave us and see if that will do the trick.
DH says he thinks just a good waxing over would work, hmmm, NO!
You can see a little bit of the metal under the scratched paint.
Damn it all!!

Make sure to clean it well *before* applying the paint. If it was me I'd go with some soapy water on a sponge, rinse, then alcohol and let it air dry. If you ever go through a car wash there's all kinds of sticky stuff they spray on your car. My 2 cents. 👍

Had a weird little thing happen - watching TV, and at one point, one of the characters shouted into her phone, “Siri, call 911!” - I’m guessing you can see where this is going.

About five minutes later, MrsT’s phone rang, and she answered it, and the woman on the other end said she was calling from the county emergency services department, and they’d registered a 911 call from the number, so they were calling to check and see if things were ok.

MrsT apologized and explained what had happened and the dispatcher on the other end said, “Don’t worry about it…you’d be surprised how often it happens.”

So much for the "intelligence" bit in AI...

Yeah I thought siri was supposed to use voice recognition.

That’s what I thought, and the woman in the program sounded nothing like MrsT.

The bit in the show was funny, though, because it was a little parody on how younger generations are so reliant on virtual assistants that something as simple as dialing three digits…where the digits themselves are spelled out in the name of what they’re calling…is beyond them.

Reminds me of an old Simpsons episode where someone says, “Quick, call 911!” and Homer replies, “What’s the number?!”

Standing outside at lunch time, was chatting to a lovely guy who informed me shi-tzu dogs are very fussy eaters. He lives alone so likes to chat when he can, a few times on my way home we have walked along together chatting.
I used to have a couple of Shi-Tzu dogs and they'd eat anything! Bear really like mashed potatoes and gravy after the vet pulled all of his teeth out. 👍

Currently 25C (77F) and raining. Like you, Barriehie - my garden is begging for it.
Finally! Now the food and bloom booster I put down days ago can actually be applied. 👍

I know it looks like all weeds around that post but they're a boatload of Sugar Baby watermelons in that grass...
