The General Chat Thread (2025)

I got a lot of those packages waiting to be delivered to me. It's just that I never ordered them.
And all those accounts that are going to be suspended. Fun thing there is that most of these are in Dutch (same as the packages) and all my accounts etc are in English :)
And I have won the lottery that I don't play in at least 15 times :hyper:

I actually got as far as the checkout before thinking I’d better check the shipping times and then on a whim the Trust Pilot reviews.
I actually bought something like that once. I probably posted about it, but in a nutshell:

I purchased two long-sleeved graphic t-shirts for my nieces, both Hallmark movie lovers, so they had sayings about that on them. Looked to be from a completely legit online storefront, US contact info, all that.

Ordered the shirts, got the tracking info, and proceeded to watch it, day after day, zig-zag its way around China, frequently back-tracking and visiting the same cities two or three times.

After several days of this, I called my credit card company and explained it all, they confirmed the online shop was on their baddies list, and refunded my money.

Many, many, many months later…the package arrived. I opened it and pulled out the shirts - oh my.

One sleeve down past the wrist, the other barely to the elbow. One shirt had the design all cattywampus, and the sizes were…they were just all out of proportion.

That was it! Suspended account. That was the latest scam I got through email.
From my cellphone company. Who I've been going round and round with for the past three or four months and finally got things all straightened out this past month.

I was thinking what the... heck! They finally got my billing right (I had switched to paperless) and now they are going to suspend my account unless I make (another) payment?! I just paid them two weeks ago! I was livid.

And then I looked more closely... after checking that the payment was received, and it looked so legit. It was off just enough I knew it had to be a scam. If I recall it didn't even have my phone number on it.

Disappointing but glad you got your money back.
I’ve been had once (so far 🙄).
Bought a jumper from a uk website that was a front. The jumper did turn up but it wasn’t fluffy mohair, it was a printed picture of mohair on the most awful nylon material. Hey ho. I have to remember to keep up with the trust pilot checks.

Parcels delivery is the most common one here but currently theres a parking fine one going around that’s caught a few people out.
A long while ago when I first got the TV licence one I did a double take because it was a direct lift of the real thing, just the email address gave it away. You know when you click on a legitimate sounding address and it reveals it’s something like jfcanfnvi23932729rfr@biz.mail 😂
