The General Chat Thread (2025)

So our last remaining dog who has never been on her own before (born in the house with her mum and dad and two older sisters here) seems to be feeling the loss hard. The cries if she’s left on her own are gut wrenching. So after having the dogs sleep in the kitchen their entire lives she is now sleeping next to my bed on a raised basket equal to my bed height.
She loves that but somehow still looks thoroughly depressed 😔

So in a bid to take her with us everywhere and not leave her crying I bought this for the motorbike 😊

I had one for my first dog and she loved it. This dog is her daughter and a bit braver than her mum so fingers crossed!
It arrived today and phase one is going well.
I left it on it’s side with a trail of broken up treats leading into the rucksack, she enjoyed it so much it was ok to move onto the next step and put her in it when its upright. That also went well 👍

I’ve left it open on the floor now and am periodically throwing a broken up treat in there for her to find. So far, so good 😃
Tomorrow her goggles arrive.

My friend has a little parapelegic dog, and they have a little backpack that she can ride in for (pedal) bike trips, and she wears goggles! She loves it and it’s adorable.

I now need to contemplate clothes for her. Buying a dog clothes is not something I’ve done before in any serious way but motorcycling in the UK can be icy cold so it’s a must 😬

My friend’s dog has a full-on snowsuit for the cold days! They put it on her in the winter before they take her out of walks in her wheelchair.

She’s happy with her doggles, they’re a good fit and hasn't tried to take them off once.
I’d like to pretend it’s because she so intelligent she knows what’s happening (don’t we all love to inflate the brilliance of our pets 😂) but I’m thinking the treat everytime I put them on her might have something to do with it, maybe, probably not, she is super bright 😆

My brother brings his dog along with him on his motorcycle - she rides in the sidecar.

He had the sidecar custom-made, and it includes an ornate little post for fastening the dog’s riding harness. The funny story is, when he first took delivery of the sidecar, his wife saw it, and immediately thanked him for being so thoughtful as to not only put a handhold on it for her, but for understanding her mantra of making the little things in life beautiful as well as functional.

He initially took credit for it, but the truth was finally freed and he had to own up that he’d had that made for the dog.

Brilliant.
Reminds me of the time during a heatwave Mr SSOAP thanked me for buying extra fans and I said don’t be silly they’re for the dogs 😂
