The General Chat Thread (2025)

It was a few hours, until MrsT got home. Our house was a split-level, so the basement/lower-level windows set just above ground level, just behind some shrubbery.

The dog and I hunkered down there, between the windows and the shrubs, and got some heat coming off the windows from inside the house.
I suppose I would have rung the bell at the neighbours instead. Or gone into a heated store or shop

The curtains are up, and some decor has been placed. We also covered one of our windows partially because of the daily groups of school aged children from the nearby school staring at us while waiting to go to their gym.

I don't know if they are available there, but we have blinds here that can be raised/lowered from the top and bottom. I ordered some for a window that's across from a neighbor's window and keep the bottom covered and the top open.

These are the same that I have; I have them in black. I had to custom-order them.

So we leave in the morning to go back home from vacation and another person in our building was thrilled to take some food we didn't eat (eggs, cheese, unopened olives, and so forth). Made her day. I'd asked the front desk earlier if housekeeping might want it and apparently it's not allowed for them to take it, they're supposed to throw it out. Really happy it's not going to waste.

Good plan!
I hate good food going to waste

Over here giving a dog cooked bones is a big no no. Personally I think that’s a load of nonsense but it’s something that’s well established 🙄
Guess thats not the case in America?
No, it's a thing over here to not to give dogs bones, but it's chicken bones most frowned upon. Especially that little sharp spike on the legs.

Over here there seems to be a big trend to use smoked bones as dog toys/treats.
And of course, a smoked bone is a cooked bone. Which means it can splinter. And I've seen it happen with dogs you would not think of as having a strong bite.

I'm not sure whose brainchild that was. They are all over the place.
