The General Chat Thread (2026)

Today I decided to splurge and go my usual place to hem my Palazzo wide jeans, I googled and called the usual place, they closed and moved farther away.
So I decided to hem it myself and save $18 plus gas and inconvenience, drop and pick.
Glad to report I just finished it. I just need to iron tomorrow. Then after that I can wear this pair of jeans.

Yes, I found that there is one beauty school here in Cowboyville, but I'm not quite sure I'd trust my precious remaining eyebrows to a student to be honest.
And I never thought SoCalZone10 to go there for my hair coloring! I've been doing that myself at home for many, many years with pretty descent results.

I did that for years too, but since we bought a new home before retiring, my husband said no more. He used to help me dye my hair. Think of a scene in the movie Out of Africa, where Robert Redford was washing Meryl Streep’s hair, well it’s not quite that romantic, lol, but you get the idea.

OH_MY_GAWD!!!
That's F#$*&!@ scary looking!!!
YA SEE!!!
I haven't got much eyebrows left to play around with.
AND, I see an "eye job" in my near future ....

I’ve been getting back to wearing more make up, I bought an eyebrow thickener.

SoCalZone10 I haven't worn makeup since I retired in 2006 --- until recently!
It seems to just make you look a bit more --- put together.
I use Bare Minerals powder foundation, bronzer and blush, just a touch - as well as the eye brow mascara and regulation mascara, and just a small dab of lipstick. My Gal Pals just said "you look different..."

Me neither, but I decided to take care of my look a bit better. I get the brand, I forgot now, the makeup looks very natural. And eat more trotter soup, my hair and nails are always growing. I look better then when I first retired.

It seems I safe a lot of money by having grey hair and not wearing make up :giggle:

Besides that, I don't understand why the suggested tips are so high?
People get paid for their job, isn't it? So tips are only for jobs very well done (beyond normal expectation). Or as it said at one restaurant/pub: tip stands for Truly Impressive Performance
