I generally don’t mind the dentist too much. I like the pokey-stabby they do when they’re measuring my gums.

I go for cleanings every six months, and they do that gum thing only once a year, but I always try and sweet-talk them into doing it every visit… “Have I told you that’s a really lovely smock?…” - it usually works!
 
I had an accident at work where a quantity, about a cup, of 30% HCl, hydrochloric acid, was ejected from some faulty plumbing and it went in my nose, mouth, on my face, shirt, etc. That'll clean the enamel right off of there; I could feel and hear my teeth bubbling as my shirt was dissolving from the heat of ionic disassociation. Breathing became a new adventure!

I keep getting in my own head when it comes to making things. I still only have late nights for creative things, which I’ve leveraged for most of those 9 years. But it’s not easy sometimes to get motivated when it’s 11:30 pm, even when I have the energy.

I do still cook for the family during the week, and I’m happy with the results. But, it’s one thing to execute a proven recipe in a box, no matter how good it is. The creative stuff is what really gives me a charge.

I’m planning to add a recipe to the latest recipe challenge. I did part of the prep last night, so I should finish it tonight. Baby steps.

Holy crap man. Are you okay? Is it possible to repair the enamel on your teeth? And, how are you doing with burns to your flesh?

Thanks for asking.

The teeth are gone, mostly. They eventually wore down and got pulled or broke and came out. I had a hose handy when I was in that environment so I sprayed my face, so I could breathe, and then it was 30' to the laundry room where I poured a gallon of softener on my chest to neutralize the acid. Work never acknowledged the accident so I was stuck with all that.

(I bet they had fun after I left... 😉)

They’re not leaving it at that, are they? I mean, aren’t they going to step up and help you (with treatment or, maybe, some sort of concern for what happened to you?)

No, that particular location was running in the red and they are all about the bottom line. I'm sure the controls issues they faced (spell swimming pool pumps, automatic chemical dispensers, AC's, lights, etc.) cost them much more than my medical... Never pays to screw with the guy that can wire the place...

No, I'm as is and over it albeit lacking in an ability to masticate and sometimes have nose issues. I'm good and karma works so they'll reap their own lack of compassion. 🤷‍♂️
