The General Chat Thread (2026)

My OH has had another attempt at redesigning the car again. He's know driving home as it goes dark since we lost daylight savings time over Easter. It takes a while to remember the really bad points at dawn and dusk. He's remembering the hard way.

You see that clean section that starts at the front wheel and goes all the way to the rear wheel... and there's a bit by one of the lights as well... there's also a clear clean area for the tail (2nd circle from the left). I'm still scratching my head about the long mark just below the windows...

Well the rear drivers door is also dented which doesn't show on the image but there's a head sized dent that needs to visit a panel beater... that's the yellow circle...

The kangaroo hopped away, dazed but not catchable. 😞 I think it will have been bruised and had a headache... not a good time to catch them when they're like that.

Actually, now I've been out, the clean part starts immediately after the roo bars before the front wheel!

So what do you do when toddlers got an assignment due and you've also not got any electricity?

Well until my phone goes flat on me, I'll start taking more photos! Then I'll start on the garden i guess...

No idea why it is down, it's not like it's bad weather or anything like that. No thunderstorm. It's a nice sunny day.

In America, some people mount those bars simply to make their way to work through political protests.

Our chooks love them, add do the smaller birds. It gives them something to hop along whilst eating the insects off there front of the car.

They're actually the second set. Believe it or not, he actually managed to put a big dent in the centre of the first set whilst braking to turn into our track. An adult roo stepped out across the road whilst he was on the brakes... that was 8 years ago though.

Here insurance expect two animal collision claims every 3 years as part of the normal course of events!

Well, that was not fun.

I didn't bother with the generator because there was little point with no mobile signal. I couldn't even get sms messages out. So with no mobile hotspot to use, i didn't need there laptop because my AI assignment needed the internet. In fact everything needed the internet. So whatever took down the electricity also took out the mobile phone mast as well which is unusual. Normally I still have a signal, so I use the generator despite the noise. But no signal, meant no need for the generator...

4hrs gone down the pan. Grrr

One thing that did materialise from that power outage was that we've not been told about a planned outage next month. We're meant to be told about them... I found out only because of an unplanned outage. At least that one should keep the mobile signal working, so I can use the generator for the day.

You could name the vehicle "the roo-inator"
