Hi Admins

Twice today I could not post as the site thinks I am posting spam! Example is a reply I was trying to send below and the site would not let me..

Funnily enough, I tried pasting the test into this and it would not let me! Any ideas?

I am not sure why but the automatic spam blocker is picking up a swear word which I can't actually see your the post. This has happened before with other posts. Unfortunately I'm not able to over-ride the setting. I'm afraid I will have to wait for site owner SatNavSaysStraightOn to look at this - she is in Australia so different time zone.

OK - I see what is happening. You included a link to an external website re drying fish - there is a part of the URL which the spam blocker thinks is a swear word. Unfortunately I can't over-ride it. Sorry about this!

Try posting again without the link. I may then be able to add the link to your post.

Hi
no, did not work... I removed link and cant see anything in my text that's even close to being offensive

Is this the entire text you attempted to post?

I was in Pozzuoli once and had an amazing fish risotto and when talking to the chef his main thing was a big fish stock pot that was bubbling constantly on the hob - I think everything that came from the sea went into it :)

Yes - I originally had with the post from above it and deleting that part allowed me to post.

It would appear that the new system has no limit to the number of characters between the letter f and ck so was indeed finding an f in your sentence and then finding an unrelated ck and assuming you are trying for hardcore porn posting. Such is the logic of the IT world!

I'm sorry about the false positive, but in setting up the new filtering system to prevent hardcore porn, drugs, sex, gambling, home loans/sharks, money pyramids, advertising and so on, I'd rather find the occasional false positive than find the forum full of any of the above. I have worked in a boarding school for teenage boys where every student had a school owned laptop. They exposed me to far more than I ever wished to find out about the internet (way worse than many of you can imagine) and as the sole IT engineer/technician for most of my time there, it was me that got to produce the evidence, printing it out to give to the relevant house/head master (and on one occasion house mistress), keep a log of it and then block it and all other sites that the culprit(s) had found and any they linked to. My time working in IT for the armed forces did not in any way prepare me for teenage boys (and occasional girl) and what they got up to.

Please just report any more issues using the report button. Often it will be a link that is the problem. Because of advertising (or the above), we restrict what new members can post initially. Links are by far the biggest culprit, even in quotes of a full member, simply because a quote can easily be edited by anyone even vaguely IT aware and 'you' could easily edit the quote to include a link that wasn't previously there. So everything in your reply box, quotes included, gets checked.

Once you have been a member for a little longer you'll find the system automatically relaxes and links just go from banned to needing approval to being allowed without question.

If you find any words replaced either with a different phrase or with *'s then that is a different matter altogether and it is censorship that is kicking in. The site is family orientated and words in that list (I can't give examples because even I get censored) are here to stay, but should be easily guessed! Just remember that shiitake has a double 'i' in it and you'll be fine! (This is a recent example of it kicking in and with a single i contains a censored word!)
