'Too much detail' cake!

The problem with these cakes for me is I assume it's all sugarpaste,and very little actual cake, and the cake is probably a very basic dry dull sponge. I want a cake I can enjoy eating.

Our wedding cake (well the bottom layer of it, the middle and top layers were a cheese and a pork pie) was a lovely fruit cake, with minimal marzipan and icing, and a very simple daisy pattern on it. Perfect.
