As we've made it through the first half of 2025, my mind floats towards next year.

DH & I have already thrown around two options:
1) MLB Grapefruit League Spring Training in Clearwater Florida
2) A month log stay on "The Jersey Shore" aka on the Atlantic Ocean somewhere in New Jersey, USA
Both of the above are on DH's "Bucket List".

It's looking like our usual spot in Hawaii is going to be out, because of a major construction job on the building that will last an entire year.
As I have nothing better to do right now (sitting in a hotel room, waiting for another appointment with DH's doc in the Big City) and we have free WIFI ...
I've already plotted both trips out on paper for DH's final decision ...

2026 - we’re trying to get a handle on MrsT’s roaming ways, so we can use that money to do a couple of touch-ups to the house, with the idea that we can put it on the market at a moment’s notice if need be.

I’m guessing that, at most, she’ll make a trip to Florida (for work and to see her friend), we’ll likely drive over to St. Louis to see her sister, and possibly another foray to Pennsylvania, just to keep our eyes on the prize.

Hi Wahine. If you decide on Clearwater, let me know. We can meet for lunch.

So is the prize the retirement thing? 🤞

Well my travel plans have just altered. I’ve got a family holiday booked for all of us to Spain in October and thought the rest of next year would be filled with me trying to get as much time out there as possible.

But this morning Mr SSOAP appeared with my morning cup of tea (love him for doing that) and announced he’s been checking the housing market and left a message for the solicitors property arm about buying a holiday home in the Isle of Man!
This is with a view to try out what it’s like living on the island and then retiring there.

I can’t quite believe it. When I first suggested going there he didn’t look too keen and within one week of being there he is totally convinced it’s the right thing to do !

I’m excited but also feeling quite nervous.
I think a few more visits before committing would be sensible, so that’s my travel plans, more of the IOM!

I was wondering if you meant a permanent move... islands of the UK coast are great fun and do have a distinctive atmosphere. But beware the lack of on-line delivery (both supermarkets and many other mainland companies). No Ocado, no Sous Chef!

Yes, thank-you for mentioning that, if I wasn’t aware it would be a shock, checking out supply lines and times to delivery has been one of my objectives while I was there.

IOM does do online grocery deliveries and I confess I have been in every main supermarket scoping out what they stock and finding out which store covers what area to ensure I choose where I live based on being able to get the widest range of ingredients.

Everything else surprisingly does run to the Isle of Man. Even Sous Chef will still be making my trigger finger itch 😬 😂
I ordered something on Amazon prime to see how long it took to arrive and it only adds one day to the delivery time (making it 48 hours rather than 24).

The ferries run from the Isle of Man to Dublin, Belfast, Heysham and Liverpool and I’m also up for a little motorbiking to get ingredients (it’s one of my favourite types of ride).
Especially now I’ve seen how many Asian supermarkets there are and that Liverpool has it’s own China Town -
