Travel Plans 2026

SoCalZone10 We go into an ABC store at least once. (I worked in the travel industry for many years in Hawaii)
That's the best place for gifts to take home to our friends on the mainland.
I try to pack us SUPER light so we have room to take stuff back.
I also pack an extra LLBean canvas bag as an alternate checked bag.
And don't forget that portable baggage scale, I keep that with us at all times... 50pounds max!

WELL!
It's looking more and more like this WILL be our last trip back home to Hawaii.
Have you seen that the State of Hawaii has YET AGAIN raised the "Tourist Taxes"?
I just got a brochure in the mail from Viking Cruises ... we may go with these routes rather than going back to Oahu Hawaii for a month at a time.

You know I just stayed there using points from a credit card, no resort fee, no tourist tax.

I would think that your points paid for the TAT, GET, Green, and another I can't recall and I would think that they simply didn't break the charges down completely on your bill that you points paid for.

The taxes had just been raised at the beginning of January, adding in the Green Tax, and now they're raising them again this month, patting themselves on the back saying how they're the first to institute these taxes on tourism and how it's benefiting everyone and thing ... BS, I CALL BS!!!

I don’t think so, it’s the same points I booked for last year.

Try Aruba. Lots of beaches, good restaurants, lovely people, nice quiet island!
Aruba is actually more expensive for the same kind of hotel I’m looking at. Maybe twice the points for what I’m looking for. On top of the 10+ hours flight. I like the idea but reality sets in.
