Weird Geography #3 - Place Names.

Agreed. But is Pratts Bottom weird? Maybe slightly humourous to UK residents, but not weird.
I don't know if its weird (a bit weird, maybe?) but yes its humorous to us. I didn't think Las Vagas was weird until I found out it meant 'the meadows'! Does Los Angeles also seem weird to you?

Or how about foodie named places? There's a place called Guzzle Down in Devon. Or there's this one in New Mexico

We have Lower Peover, Nether Peover, Over Peover and Peover Superior.

There is also Ilam (written in caps it is ILAM) which as a kid I rather innocently :angelic: asked my parents why a place was called 11am! Needless to say the name stuck:giggle:

There are also loads of others which make no sense unless you know that -wich means salt in the old dialect. So there is Northwich, Middlewich, Nantwich, Leftwich to name a couple or so.
