What are you afraid of?

Ants

I hate them. I know they are a fundamental part of ecology and life, but I was bitten by many all at once, at primary school, and still remember it to this day.

Wombat457 will know exactly what I mean when I say it takes all takes courage to walk over those large flat ant mounds that form everywhere in the bush in Australia.
Fire ants are pretty nasty
Are they similar to the ones you mentioned?

These things give me the heebie-jeebies, but I went snorkeling with them anyway last year. I rationalized it by thinking that the dive boat did this every day with customers, and if people were getting ripped limb from limb, they wouldn't still be in business. After everyone was back on the boat, the first mate chummed the water and slapped it with a rope, and whole stern erupted into a frothy feeding frenzy. That was the equivalent of giving a dog a treat for being good, but it reminded me why they're in the back of my mind every time I venture into saltwater.

Back in the day when I went SCUBA diving if it remotely looked like a shark I was going like Aquaman to leave the water.

Yep snakes. Any type.
We usually get one or two bull snakes showing up in the yard or house in the summer.
Snaaaaaaake!
Usually grab them with gloves, put into a bucket (not me I might add!) and drive them down the road about a mile and let them go in the wash 😅
Not afraid of spiders or bugs!

That and crossing small pedestrian suspension bridges. Terrifying! 😱

We have fire ants in Australia, but my fear is ants, period. No different to others saying snakes or sharks, they don't specify which, just all. Oddly I'm fine with snakes, though there is no way in hell I would ever consider picking one up with gloves on. That's not enough and I'm more than happy to just let them go safely on their way. I don't believe in killing them just because their venomous or dangerous. Humans are far more dangerous in my view.

I've got my resident King Snake that lives along the driveway. It's cool, it eats the venemous ones. When threatened it will shake it's tail in the brush so it sounds like a rattlesnake. 😱

Heights; I get vertigo. I don't know where this came from, because, as a kid, I'd climb trees like a little monkey.
We went to Chicago about 4 yrs ago, to the (former) Sears building, 94th floor. Everyone pressed against the window, and me, 2 mts back.
I even get vertigo watching Tom Cruise staring over the edge of a mountain top.
Flying, on the other hand, is no problem at all.
I am the same - I hate man made hieghts but love flying. Flown in choppers and hung out the door, abseailed down cliffs and into caves, but put me on the top floor of a building and tell me to walk to the edge or the window and forget it - not going to happen period!

Yep, Bullants aren't the friendliest ant in the workd, that's for sure. Ants in general are annoying and as SatNav said - walking across an ant nest can be hazerdoius to ones feet, legs and everywhere else they end up.
I swam with the sharks once, I believe either in Moorea or Bora Bora, but they were small sharks, and I now can claim I swam with the sharks, haha.
I've swam with Reef Sharks off of the Cairns coast (Australia) - they are smallish and pretty harmless. That being said, I still wouldn't want one to bite me :)

Wouldn't get me in the water at Cairns. Crocs are seen there.
And when we arrived in Hawaii it was late at night. We were in the 26th floor
I couldn't even look outside. Next day I got them to put us in the 4th floor. More acceptable.

I was diving off of the Barrier Reef - not too many crocs out there :)

I recall being in Wales and staying on a hotel with all glass elevators ... I chose to walk the stairs :)
