What did you cook or eat today (April 2026)?

I got some half-price 1kg tomahawk steaks which are really just big bone-in ribeyes, so I decided to try a reverse sear cook on one of them.

A dry brine in the fridge for a few hours then into a 150C oven until the internal temp probe read 50C, a 15 min rest followed by a 2 min per side pan sear hoping for a medium-rare.

I think it turned out OK considering I've never cooked one before. Very tender; seasoning was right on and nice and Maillard-y outside.

Looks perfect. I eat pescatarian 99% of the time. This would be my 1%!

Do you get those in the supermarket or a local butcher? Or like, a gamekeeper or poacher or someone lol... 'cos I've never seen these in Sainsbury's!
I got them from Ben Rigby Game who are local to me. Ben Rigby are one of the leading game dealers in the UK : Ben Rigby Game - England's Premier Game Dealer

Unfortunately they are moving away from small game and focussing on Venison, so I've found a new supplier for it, but they are further away, but they do deliver: Buy Wild Meat & Game Online | The Wild Meat Company
