I don't hate it. There are lots of different kinds of mackerel. In the Gulf of Mexico (never Gulf of America) we caught a lot of King Mackerel. It's good fried or smoked. Grouper is my favorite--it can be cooked almost any way you like and it's just delicious.

Round here we have this kind of mackerel.

I absolutely love this kind of mackerel - it's meaty and firm and doesn't have too many tiny bones so you can eat big chunks of it. Plus, it's really cheap compared to other fish such as salmon, grouper, sea bass etc.. Now I fancy some and might get some tomorrow!

It's great from cans too, such as King Oscar brand. I like the plain ones in olive oil and will just crack open a tin and eat it directly from there sometimes.
