Fry's (Kroger's) weekly coupon special had Chuck Roast on sale for $5.99/lb. I got about 4 pounds of meat.
Made what I'm estimated at 6-7 quarts (my pot is an 8-quart hard anodized, one of my faves) of Local-Style Beef Stew - most ONO!!! (that's Hawaii speak for Hawaii-style and delicious)
My "peanut gallery" was chirpin' away as I was cooking, "it's too hot to eat Stew! What are you making that for?" (please feel free to add in the sound of a whiny little ten year boy for dramatic effect
)
WELLLLLL ... when it goes on sale you buy it and make it for the deep freeze later down the road, that's why!
(this meat had been in the freezer for a bit already; it needed to get cooked off)
DH is my official taste tester, so I gave him the smallest bowl of Beef Stew, with just 1 piece each - Beef, Potato, Carrot, Onion and Celery... "can we have this for dinner tonight?"
