What did you cook or eat today (June 2025)?

You guys should go grab a beer! TastyReuben and karadekoolaid met up one time when KK was spending time in the Cincinnati area. I know it's a bit of a drive from Rome to Atlanta, though.

Yeah KK, even up here in NE Ohio, where the lake (Erie) tends to keep us a bit cooler, it's 95F out today and that's not with the heat index, that's the actual temp. And that lovely cooling lake also brings lots of humidity, LOL.
Closest me and mine get to Atlanta is when FedEx, UPS, or USPS puts it by the front door... Nice thought though. 😃

It almost looks like popcorn kernels. Hmmmm...🤔
Popped from water absorbtion. Good way to tell how fresh your grains are is to cook them in some oil. They should pop like popcorn. If they don't pop much they're dried out and not that fresh. I do it with rice all the time. Adds a bit of "toasted" flavor, the Maillard reaction.

I understand completely. Once when I was traveling through SW Ohio on our way to Tennessee and Florida for a lengthy vacay, TR and my DH and I were going to meet up for a bite to eat down his way. His mom had an emergency episode so it ended up not working out on that trip. In actuality, he is only 2-3 hours SW of me but I don't go that way often. Now if I were staying down in Columbus or Cincinnati, I think we could probably meet somewhere at a halfway point, and that likely will happen in the future if he and MrsT don't decide to retire and move to PA too quickly.

Well that's where I was going with that. I've done it with grains over the years from time to time, but I was wondering how your newly acquired "berries" tasted if/when popped.

They're already kind of nutty this just amplifies it a bit. I did this round to see if the supplier was selling fresh product. 😉 They are. I first dealt with Breadtopia when Covid had all the groceries out of flours and meals and they pulled through then and they're just as trustworthy now. 👍

Just thinking of cooking makes me feel sick.
