What did you cook or eat today (March 2026)

Have an org chicken bought a few days ago that needs something doing with. 🐓

Can't decide whether to spatchcock and roast with herbs. garlic & evoo or do a shmancy mushroom and vinho verde casserole dish.
Spatchcock and roast. You can use your Dragon Riot shears. They're awesome! 😎

Well of course I’m cooking Thai now I’m back. Here’s some Tom Yum:

Good, I'm not the only one. I feel less weird now. 🙃
I have a nephew who is a lot like me…loves to cook, loves the unusual, etc.

He used to come and stay for the weekends when he was a teen. The first time he drove over by himself after getting his license (it’s a 75-minute drive), his mom called him to make sure he’d arrived in one piece.

We were in the kitchen when she called, and I was setting out some snacky bits and asked him to grab some cheese from the fridge:

“Ummmm…where is it?”
“Just open that drawer there, top-left.”
<pulls open drawer>
“Oh my god, Mom…Tasty has a whole drawer full of cheese. When I move out, I’m having a whole drawer full of cheese. Just wait.”

Ha - I also made some today as my daughter has a sore throat and needed something liquid-y. How do you do yours?

Mine is absolutely non traditional
Left over rice, lots of water and keep cooking
I threw is some chicken legs, then removed the bones, leaving the meat in the "soup"
It has aubergine sambal (homemade concoction), a little bell pepper that needed finishing and a dash of lime juice.
I had a small bit and now I have
just added soaked mushrooms & lime leaves for a more complete meal
