What did you cook or eat today (September 2025)?

JAS_OH1 ya know, I went looking for Cube Steak back when that conversation was a buzz and the price was stupid crazy!
LOVE Lima Beans too!!!
I had a few reimbursed and paid for grocery order shops and I fancied some cube steaks. I wouldn't buy them normally, yes too expensive. The lima beans were also part of the delivery shop. Got Brussels sprouts too, but DH doesn't like those, that's for me for a lunch one day. I can eat a bowl of buttered Brussels sprouts alone and be happy.

Had our sous vide cochinita pibil. It was pretty good, but only had it with some pickled red onion and white corn tortillas, which I'll pass on next time. It was a 4 pound roast, so lots left. No other garnishes or pics because our in-house refrigerator decided to start dying Saturday evening or early yesterday. It was still pretty cold last night, but not so much this a.m. It's at least 10 years old and I'm sure the motherboard control died since the temp control panel was blinking zeros. So, I got online this morning and found a Frigidaire for a decent price, then we spent the rest of the day stuffing the deep freeze full, which was about 2/3 cleaned out, and transferring most everything else to the porch refrigerator.

Picked up a nice piece of guanciale yesterday so we had my wife's favourite. I'd have to say Carbonara is probably my favourite also..

Looks so good. Have you posted your recipe here (or do you use a prepared mix)? If you posted a recipe, can you put a link here.
I use a prepared mix, whichever brand you can find, probably Lee Kum Kee
but I get mine from Hawaii, I like it best

I prefer the bottled one, but I can't always get it.

I have a fresh pot of the ever present steamed White Rice going
Already washed the Baby Bok Choy
Gonna just re-heat the Kau Yuk aka Chinese Pot Roast
and that's what I'm calling dinner tonight

DH was not a fan ... "ummmm, it's red, why is the meat red?"
Alot of things in at least Hawaii-Chinese-Style cooking is red.
DH, you've eaten this before, I gave you easily 10 taste-taste bits when I made this on Saturday and I loved it!!!
🤷‍♀️
I wolfed mine down!
I haven't had Kau Yuk in forever!
In Hawaii, they serve it on a steamed bun, Bao and I could probably eat a good half dozen!
