What did you cook or eat today (September 2025)?

What has always gotten me, and I make every effort to correct...
Is why, in a restaurant, people ask for "the check"?
I have always asked for the bill. They aren't exactly writing me a check are they?
I think the little notepads wait staff used to use to write down your order was called a check pad, thus, asking for the check.

Baked tortelloni with a shrimp cocktail and fresh baked sourdough krusty bread.

I think my OH may have been hungry when he served my food tonight. He cooked. It was meant to be borek but we had no phyllo pastry when hubby went to get it from the freezer, so I suggested a pie instead. 1 sheet of puff pastry over the top, for 6 portions. My diet might stretch to that.

How are you eating those?
Someone gave me some sweet pepper relish and the only thing I could come up with was on a Ritz with cream cheese.
Those are a bit chunky for that.

I'm thinking toss in with salads. If they're too big I can always blitz them down or chop, depending on what I need. They're good in Mac and cheese... 😋

You can blitz that up and thin it with a little vinegar, or even water, and have a nice little salad dressing.

As is, it’s a good sandwich spread. Or stir it into some pasta…or scrambled eggs.
