What do you like on your pancakes?

This does make me curious about what people in other countries put on pancakes? For me, it's usually butter and syrup, and sometimes fruit and/or yogurt.
I know when we used to get pancakes at McD’s in the UK (back in the ‘90’s), they came with a little packet of butter and a little packet of jam.

When I was a kid, and we went to IHOP, there always was a “hopper” on every table with at least 6 - 8 flavors of syrups - nut, fruit etc. flavors. There were so good. I would do a blend of several. Not anymore.

I remember, and I noticed that last time I went it wasn't there. All that was available was maple (possibly maple flavored) syrup.

If they're American pancakes, I'm quite happy with maple syrup, although occasionally I put some cream cheese and home made strawberry jam in the middle.
If they're British pancakes, then just sugar and lemon juice.
If they're Indian pancakes ( Dosa), then it's a potato curry.
Chinese pancakes? Has to be Peking Duck with plum sauce.

American pancakes, then it’s maple syrup and butter. No fruit, nothing else, just a load of butter and a double load of syrup. I want them absolutely soaked through, and more on the plate to run them through on their way to my mouth.

I usually have butter, and a small amount of Mrs. Butterworth. Sometimes I like strawberry (or strawberry rhubarb) topping/compote with sour cream (to balance out the sweet), and a bit of Mrs. Butterworth.
I agree about the maple syrup. I do use it in recipes but not on pancakes/waffles/french toast.

Your pancakes look much different from the ones I grew up with :)
Sugar on a Dutch pancake pannenkoek

They are often eaten with just sugar. Or stroop (syrup).
Bacon pancakes are very popular as well.

I prefer simply with sugar, my brother will always go for bacon
We’d call those crepes, and then the toppings would be quite varied - whipped cream and fruit, or syrup, or Nutella and banana, etc.

As to maple syrup…we’re heading out this morning for a two-night break, and I’ve just been reminded to refill MrsT’s emergency syrup bottle for her purse, in case she encounters pancakes/waffles while we’re gone and they don’t serve real maple syrup with them.

Yes, dear! 🫡
