When you're reading cookbooks, are there any ingredients or recipes you wish there were more of....or less of even?

I agree.
I generally just double herb and spice amount and reduce salt & sugar.

They could remove the desert section in most cookbooks as far as I am concerned.
Yep, double herbs and spices
Half sugar and salt (though here I tend to quarter the salt if it gets any at all).

I don't know about that (because I don't own a cookbook) but isn't there a small booklet that comes with the scale when purchased that explains everything? I mean, at least mine did :scratchhead:
Yep. I've got one. It reads something like:
1) press the button on the right (on/off) which turns the scale on.
2) place the ingredients to be weighed on the plate/dish of the scale (well I'd be pretty stupid if I put them on the side, wouldn't I?)
3) read the weight in grams or ounces ( Right. No way am I interested in centigrade of fahrenheit)
4) do not immerse in liquid.( oh, hang on - I'm going to put my scales in the dishwasher)\
I fully understand what they have to do to avoid lawsuits, etc., but sometimes, the instruction manual, well, DOH!
