What do you think of what they include in cookbooks?

I dunno, a lot of people don’t understand what ‘Tare’ means.

But surely, if you have a scale, you know?
Or read the manual.
No need to put it in a cookbook.

Well you’d think so wouldn’t you but both sons have said whats this button for? And I noticed my husband just turns the scale off n on again to zero it

I’ll be honest I’ve never seen ‘how to use a scale’ in a cookery book but I don’t tend to read the how to use your equipment bit at the front so I would have probably missed it anyway

I don’t see a lot of equipment usage in those reference sections of cookbooks, but I do see some discussion of techniques (how to shape a bread loaf, for example), or things like how to properly set a table - in the days before the internet, that stuff was handy!
