Possibly - I didn't have any golden syrup so tried to improvise. Also made the sitution worse by trying to cut them up before they were completely cold becuase someone wanted some of them. Will have to have another try soon, but currently baked out, did 4 Christmas cakes (which take 5 hours cooking each) and 5 batches of scones. I came home with 1 christmas cake....
