What is the biggest difficulty in finding your dinnerware/flatware of your choice?

Hi There! I've been looking for a simple, modern-looking but elegant dinnerware and flatware sets recently... I was not able to find of my choice. Any recommendations? What are your choices of dinnerware/flatware?
 
I was happy to be told about a great flatware source that isn't made in China. (Nothing against China, but some of the manufacturing practices make me leery.) At that point I just seemed to have a ton of "mutantware" - no more than five items that matched, and I am saving the mutant ware for camping trips.

The prices are mostly reasonable, I found - there are some sets more pricy than others, but the set I did buy is reasonable.

Liberty Tabletop by Sherill mfg Just popping over there, they've seem to have gotten about more Ra-Ra than when I purchased place settings for 8 a couple years ago, and when I got a set of 4 more settings last summer. It really doesn't matter - my set has been hardy and they have a variety of styles from traditional to contemporary. I really like that I could order (limited) amounts of samples, and that did help me decide what I wanted here.

I went with the Pinehurst flatware setting. Mine is not quite "elegant" but I'm enjoying them.

My wife has access to commercial suppliers of restaurant supplies. About once a year we meet there and my wife asks what I want for the kitchen, cutlery pans everything. We have Indian theme stuff, Chinese stuff even a this cutlery set. I'm pretty happy with what I have ATM.

We used to have rectangular plates but since we changed to a round dining table I wanted round plates, and this time I wanted to buy good quality ones. I finally decided on Denby's White collection because they are a classic design and have a good range of sizes and pieces, and should be pretty durable. I saw a set in Costco last year and I've been waiting for them to get them back in because they're way cheaper than anywhere else (half the price even compared to Denby's 50% off sale prices!).

We don't really use the word flatware, we call it cutlery. I saw this lovely cutlery set in a WMF shop a couple of years ago in Germany (yes, when on holiday I not only visit supermarkets, but I also like looking around kitchen shops :laugh:) It was absolutely beautiful and fit nicely in the hand, nicely shaped and an unusual design, but sadly far too expensive for us. But last year whilst looking at plates in one of the Denby outlet shops we saw this cutlery set which is a close second, and more more affordable!
