We have 'retention ponds' in Texas for flood control. My sister keeps calling them 'detention ponds' even though I have corrected her several times. I finally explained to here that a detention pond is where water would go if it broke the law. She didn't get it.

It's just like people saying 'nukular' in place of nuclear. You can explain it a thousand times, and they will still say 'nukular.'

That reminds me of several youtube videos, in which I heard expecially being said instead of especially...what is the story behind it? Just different regional pronouncing?

oh yes. My daughter is crazy about Monopoly recently. In November I bought a modern card scanning version, and she loves it. She plays with her friends. And she recently got the original version of Monopoly, and she enjoys it too. We, her and me, played it at home several times too.
