Monty Python was just a million years ahead of its time.
I had some friends over for dinner last Friday, and one of them started his working life just the same as I did: in Berlitz.
First chapter, first page:
"This is a book. It is not a table"
Inspiration for Monty Python to do this:

And yes, John Cleese studied German with a colleague of mine at Berlitz, called Helga.
