We used to have a gator, named Charles, that came around the duck hunting camp in the swamps out of Lake Charles. To get the feathers off we'd rub the ducks in boiling water and wax and then put them on a stringer in the swamp. When the wax hardened you could crack it off and it'd pull the feathers out. Well, Charles would come along and eat a few of the ducks off the stringer! We'd throw him a few when we pulled the pirogues in. He'd learned the boat sounds meant ducks in the water.
