I know you guys got cells before us..I started my business in 91 and had a pager the first year . In 92 I got the brick.

My father-in-law had a brick. Since he spent most of his days talking on the phone, it was a godsend.
I started working for GTE (now Verizon) at the end of 92, and was awarded with a brand new Nokia - with 2 extra batteries. My boss, who was an ex-marine, told us he wanted us on call 24/7. He wasn't joking.

I *hated* on call.

I still do. One week out of three. What’s just as bad, even when I’m not officially on call, I still have to work nights and weekends most days for one reason or another.
