What made you smile recently (2025)?

The first time I used a crank start, I was probably 11 or so years old, and my grandad told me to crank start the tractor, which I’d seen done probably 500 times before, so I didn’t think anything of it, grabbed ahold, and just as I got to that first crank, he nonchalantly said, “Make sure yah let go ah that thing right when it catches or else it’ll break yer arm clean off.”

Wait, wha…?!

Kind of like starting airplanes...

They still have that button on the floor in Las Vegas cabs. The cabs have the yellow service indicator light and also a green one. If you're in trouble, anything bad inside, you press the foot button and the green light comes on. All first responders and govt. employees know that signal and the PD will do a felony stop on the car. Also, the cabs have numbers you use when you call in on the radio. These numbers only go up to 999. If you add a zero to your cab number so you're now 2100 instead of 210 it's a verbal cue to dispatch. Of course all the geo location stuff is online so you won't get more than 50 yards before you're cab is swarmed with metro, SWAT, fire, EMS, the whole nine yards.

Yes, I drove a cab in between heating and cooling seasons. Rather an interesting job.

No, fat finger on a phone. I've corrected! 🤣
I dated someone when I was in my early 20s who was soooo good looking...and soooo dumb! He didn't know he was stupid, and at first I didn't really care. I actually didn't know for the first few weeks I dated him because he just didn't talk much. He just smiled and gazed into my eyes and let me talk, and I thought he was the strong, silent and mysteriously intelligent type. But when he opened his mouth for the first time and said something that was utterly ridiculous, I was blown away. But, I let it slide. A few dates later and I just couldn't stand to be around him, and interestingly, he wasn't physically attractive to me anymore. He started dating someone else after that who was equally unintelligent and I was afraid for them both lest they breed...thankfully that didn't happen and the world was spared.
