I'm trying to post something, and it's telling me that the tag it put in by itself is not valid, and to change it to "x," then I change it and that tag is considered not valid. Even when posting with no tags, it tells me the tags I'm using aren't valid and to change them. I select an auto-complete tag that the site recommends, and it tells me it's invalid. It's telling me I'm using invalid tags that aren't even in the tag field.

I have found some tags odd restrictions. In one section, I can add just “onions” as a tag. But in other sections it has to be a specific onion, IE “red onions”. Very odd.

Its difficult to diagnose your problem without screen shots or specific examples. Tags that are automatically entered should not be showing as invalid.

Both onion and red onion are valid tags and there are no restrictions regarding the sections of the forum where they can be used. Indeed, they could both be used as tags in one recipe.

I got past it, I just kept refreshing the page and hitting "post" and eventually it worked.

I was gonna take a screenshot of it, but it was just the error pop-up that says "oops, we ran into a problem." I didn't think it needed a screenshot.

I'm trying to post a question and the site is giving me this error. I have no idea why because I did not do what the site is saying. I literally did not interact with the tag field part of the post.

For some reason, the site thinks that the words I type in the question part of creating a post is me writing in the "tag field" part of the post.
When I click post again, it tells me to remove words in the "tag field" that are in the question part of my post, it changes each time. What is going on here?

I did not do what is in this second picture.

The tag field is literally empty.

The irony is that it is doing this because they're are no tags. If you manually fill in 2 tags, it won't happen.

That is the problem. The system can not find any relevant tags to add to your thread and it needs at least 1 tag added. Usually the system uses the title field to find a suitable tag automatically. So add a tag or two manually and the problem will go away.

Now I see this screen shot, I see this one is obviously to do with tags. Not sure if your previous problem was the same error message though. SatNavSaysStraightOn has answered.
