what up with tagging restrictions?

Weird. It got rid of the word Mayoracha and added the word korean, which is in my title, but I capitalized it.

I haven't run into the pic problem yet.
And I could swear I've typed the word sandwich before without encountering this.

I'll try to hit Post a few more times and see if something breaks free.
When I run into the tag problem, I just leave it out. 🤷‍♀️

Whaaaat???
How do you specifically reference the offending word?
I wouldn't know how to reference a Korean condiment if I can't use the word Korea??? Well, I guess I could say that country MASH was about, lol.

LOL
Is Mayoracha and combo of mayo and sriracha? Maybe just add tags for mayo and sriracha. I have noticed that many peppers are listed/tagged as chilis.

I can't even put dashes between the letters of the words.
It still recognizes the word.

That's what I asked, if I can add the words as a tag to get it to post.
But other than sandwich, it keeps changing out words when I hit Post.

I just backspaced my thread out.
I guess I'll never know the answer to my question

Maybe send a DM to satnav or a mod. One of them should be able to help.
I have never had an issue starting a thread, just with tags sometimes. I have created a thread and not added any tags and it works.

According to SatNavSaysStraightOn’s two posts earlier in this topic (if I’m reading it right), this is happening because the system can’t figure out what tags to auto-add to a new post, so it gives up.

The fix is to manually add a relevant tag to the tag field, and then click post. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to wait for SatNavSaysStraightOn to respond, as she’s the technical expert on the forum software.

Thanks!
That's exactly what I was asking, but the fix (I read it too) didn't make sense. Not with such a common word like sandwich. I was already posting it in the sandwich forum. Would it even need tagged sandwich?

If I get around to it, I might try again later.

Per SatNavSaysStraightOn the best method is to take your post referencing the issue and hit the report button so it goes admin wide.

I added the sandwich tag to your other thread.

Right now they system is scanning your text and trying to add tags. That's the easy bit.

The problem is that because of historical problems, i no longer allow members to create tags. 1 of your tags exist in the system. The other does not. So you are getting the error because of the one that does not. Only the system can't tell you which one is the problem.

The easiest solution is to remove very specific ones. And never type in the entire word. If you enter "sandw" you will see all that start with those letters. Now tap on the one you want.

If you find yourself with a "hit" to some of your letters, it's not a hit. It is the system recognising that some members can create tags and it's next move is to try to create that tag (after you add it, and then try to post/reply). It is far easier to use partial words to ascertain what the issue is because a full word may get a single hit and appear in the same manner.
Also the system uses a normal find algorithm, so you may find that your word is in a compound tag "aubergine/eggplant" and typing "eggp" will get a hit on aubergine. That is something the auto match can not handle, so you'll error if eggplant alone is the tag because it thinks you're trying to make a new tag.

Also note that the system often uses such as raspberry because that is how it appears in recipe titles and the auto matching to title needs an identical hit, not a close match.

Finally, if you think a tag is missing, and would be something that is used more than once, use the report button on the thread to request is creation and addition to your thread.

Korean should be Korean cuisine, I'll check it out. All tags are converted to lower-case to resolve humans being lazy vs humans not being lazy... else we'd end up with a tag for korean, Korean, kOrean and so on.

if I can't use the word Korea???
The problem with Korea is that it is not in the list. You used a full word search and didn't get as hit so the system tried to create a new tag. Same as for Korean.

by using "Kor" only, you get a list of word containing those letters in that order and at that point, it is clear that Korea and Korean are not in the list. Hence the error, and also exactly why I ended up removing tag creation permissions from members.
