what up with tagging restrictions?

PAcanis So, if I wanted to report an issue with XYZ I could describe it in this post and post the reply and then immediately after it's posted hit the button, provide a reason, and whoosh, down the wire it goes. 🤠

Every post has a report button. If it's not posted you can create the post which will have the button. The operation of the report button means it notifies mods/admins en masse and you're not targeting an individual with the task who may or may not be on vacation, otherwise busy, at school, etc. It distributes the processing load among a group and speeds up a resolution. Make sense?

Example only, I just scrolled up enough for a usable pic.View attachment 133589

Hence the problem. And the gist of this thread long before I showed up.

Some of us cannot start threads because of the tag restrictions.

So reporting something that cannot be posted is a moot point.

Per SatNavSaysStraightOn the best method is to take your post referencing the issue and hit the report button so it goes admin wide.

Oh, yes. But PA didn't post thread, so no report button.

PA. Don't add tags, they really aren't necessary. Just type your thread title and whatever you want in the box below, hit post and the site will add tags for you. Most of the time, I don't bother with tags for my recipes. They are just added by the site.

I've been a member here for 4 years and the only time I gave a hoot about tags was when posting a recipe for challenges. It's seriously unimportant.

Tags are useful for searching the forum using the built in search facility.

I will try to explain what happened:

The problem was arising because a new function was added which meant threads in the food area of the forum could not be posted without at least one tag. So it was not possible for members to post a thread unless they either added a tag or the system automatically found one for them.

In the cases above the system was unable to find a valid tag from their thread, hence the Oops message. Others have not experienced the issue because their threads happened to contain valid tags words, so the system was able to automatically supply a tag.

I understand that the new function has now been removed so the problem should no longer occur. However, we would appreciate it if members could add tags to their threads.

Tags help the site work. They help search engines find the pages on the site. They really are needed and as moderators we go through all of the threads adding and amending tags as we see them when they are wrong.

They also help members with advanced searches, plus a lot of the behind the scenes stuff i really don't want to laden you all with.

But the long and short of it, is that they help the site. Please use them.

Excellent explanation.
Thanks

I suppose since I rarely create threads other than the occasional recipe, where I always use tags, it's been a non-issue. But now I know.

I usually go back and add tags.
