What was your favorite dish/meal as a child?

Never heard if them but found various definitions. So what were they? They sound Polish.

I always thought they were Russian but I honestly don’t know where she got the recipe from. Perhaps one of our many, many relatives who seem to have come from all over the shop some very far afield, name a nationality and we probably have one in our family somewhere 😂
It was an unusual thing to be cooking in the 70’s and I’ve never known anyone else who had them 🤷‍♀️

Her Kromeski’s were tiny pieces of chopped chicken (not the mince I’ve seen in other recipe’s while trying to find hers), in a very thick roux then shaped like a croquette and then battered and fried. I don’t know what she flavoured them with but they were so good. I suspect there was cream in the roux.

She also used to use left over roast chicken or turkey at Christmas (probably to use up the turkey meat). I don’t know how the cooking method differed when the meat was cooked but she totally nailed it regardless.
So yer, chopped chicken in a thick flavoured roux shaped like a croquette then battered and fried.

That almost sounds like bitterballen, a Dutch treat :)
