What will you be watching on TV tonight (2025)?

It’s an animated thing, with Gilda Radner and Catherine O’Hara (among others) doing the voices.

The animation is a little like Monty Python/Yellow Submarine, but not entirely. I was convinced one of the characters was completely nude until a wide shot proved she wasn’t.

Two hilarious Paul Lynde-delivered jokes:

Witchypoo: We’re having health food…we scraped all the meat out of a hot dog!
His Paulness: A real “hollow weenie,” huh?

And…

Paul: Where’s Tim?
The Wicked Witch: He’s out on the dance floor doing The Monkey.
Paul (glancing at the dance floor…pause…): The monkey just bit him.

Tonight started out with a Hallmark Christmas movie, but not your usual kind…this was one of their serious ones, where they hire quality actors, and the plot doesn’t revolve around two hapless 40-somethings falling in love.

When you have Sam Elliot and Sarah Paulson in your movie, you know it should be pretty good, and this one was. It’s hard not to like Sam Elliot in anything he does.

Anyway, plot was about a small girl with cancer, not expected to live through to the end of the year, so her dad decides to celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas on an accelerated schedule, and the town (with the help of Mr. Elliot) comes together to help make it happen.

After that, the Into the Dark movie Pure, horror movie centered around the whole purity culture thing that was big (here in the US, anyway) a few decades ago. All I’ll say is…it didn’t end well for the dads. No sir, it did not.
