Lagavullin is divine; sort of a perfect match between the smoky peat and the whisky.I am a big fan. I also really like Port Charlotte Heavily Peated. Both are pretty good, but they don't compare at all to Lagavulin 16!
Port Charlotte didn't even exist when I was there in Islay; Caol ila was closed down and the only distilleries were Ardbeg, Lagavullin, Bowmore ( we stayed right across the road), Laphroaig, Bruichladdich and Bunnahabbain.
At a scotch tasting some time ago, I found out that Lagavullin is one of the single malts used in Johnny Walker Black Label.
