I've got some onion tops sprouting now next to the basil and carrot tops. I usually leave a few spring onion tops to sprout but haven't had any spring onions so far this year.
Still no success with the dates - we have a few more so will try those.
May a desThat's a shame. I could make a pun on your lack of success but I'll resist.I'm not sure what sort of conditions date stones require.
The trial onions are sprouting well - the large one on the left is 5" high after 4 days, although I think the hot weather may have something to do with this. The poor little specimen on the right was the first one, and the sprouting bits were used as a garnish in place of chives. I thought I'd killed it by cutting it too close to the base, but it is just starting to grow again.

Mine don't usually stay in there long enough! This happens to my onions that get left in the vegetable basket!
I've successfully planted sprouting potatoes in the past. Unfortunately the dog liked to water them.....I've had potatoes try to sprout but not onions.
