I need to change fly line and go out practice casting

I actually switched to Tenkara gear for flyfishing and haven't touched my Western fly rods in years. For the mountain streams I mostly fish, you have to hike or mountain bike 3 or 4 miles into a large wilderness area near me just to reach them in some cases, and having a telescopic rod is so nice to carry in a backpack.

My rod breaks down in 40 or 50 cm pieces. Bought with travelling in mind.
I won't hike around the rivers here.

Aren't hippos territorial and they'll charge you?

They can...
Trick is they feel safe in the water and unsafe on the land, so you try not to get between them and the water.
But they do come out when it is dark and can go as far as 8-10 km from the water where you don't expect them.
It the crocs I am really worried about.
Generally we fish from a jetty or boat

Lol, and I thought I had it tough with bears, rattlesnakes, and copperheads! If I had to deal with hippos and crocs, I'd want a .375 H&H Mag or .450 Rigby slung over my shoulder just to go fishing.
