Here, I think that's what we call...wait for it...a Butterfly Bush. We have some in our back landscaping. I'll go have a look in a bit.

In my last house in N/Wales I grew sunflowers in the paddock to attract the bees. We would dry some of the heads and eat the seeds with this result. The pic is 100% genuine.

Certainly seems to be buddleia, though I suspect a different species to the one in my photo. My intensive research (Google search) tells me that there are some 140 species of this plant.

We could never keep the birds from eating all the seeds.

I used to plant them regularly, but I've fallen off. I think I'll do them again next year.
