Quarry Bank Styal Cotton Mill

My OH was an apprentice in a cotton mill before we met at university, so he spent a good deal of time talking to some of then National Trust workers, in particular one young lady who was full of questions about the machinery. She only knew what she was demonstrating, so was keen to learn about other techniques and ways of cotton weaving.

This is also the reason that if it needs hitting with a hammer to repair it, I'll give it to my OH to fix. If it needs a more refined technique, I'll fix it!

You know how places like that will have tins of biscuits or fudge or whatever for sale? Those last two pics could be on the cover. Very nicely done!

I love that pooch!

She's my sister's dog, Bella who will be 10 in October. She's a Shar Pei and very atypical of her breed. She's soft as a brush around family but fiercely defensive of my sister especially.

Somehow she got away with sitting at the table with us on Saturday.

She's not normally allowed near the table, let alone on the chairs. She never once took anything from the table or even sniffed it. That red container had 8 pork sausages in it and she just sat there waiting to be given one by our mum.

I suspect it's a Christmas decoration that didn't get taken down!

Now my hair is long enough to tie back I wanted to add a little bit of something and these seemed to fit the bill nicely.
