Yes, and backing up traffic. That area is called Garden Lakes since it's got many lakes about 2 acres in size everywhere.

The Canadian Cobra Chicken does not obey the laws of men, and laughs at your attempt to draw boundaries and contain them!

If you get too close they get a lot bigger with their wings going out and that long neck coming in for aimed pecks/bites!

There are several roundabouts in Canberra city centre, on the dial carriageway section where it's 80kph (50mph) where there are ponds in the centre of the roundabout along with lovely sorry green grass....

It's not uncommon, especially during the rush hour, for traffic to suddenly stop, part way across the roundabout. Totally stop dead... and everyone just waits patiently for the family of ducks to cross with all their ducklings.

I have seen one person leap out of their vehicle and round up a stray duckling, just to help get them across the roundabout.

It's such a frequent event that everybody just accepts it and waits.... and this is less than 1km (⅔m) from the CBD of Canberra.

Yes, same thing in Garden Lakes. There's even laws against stray dogs so the geese and ducks don't get attacked. You can fish there too but it's catch and release.
