Novara to Milano was my "highway to hell" for a long time in the 1990s @MypinchofItaly .

Coming down the beautiful Aosta valley then hitting the traffic on the 2-laneTorino/Milano autostrada. Woof ! Awful, particularly in the rain.

I think it's a lot safer now that they've widened it

You are well informed! they have expanded recently, but after years of waiting ... in fact it was a bad highway the Milan-Turin, I have traveled in 2003 when I was studying in Turin ... sad and monotonous and not very safe (well, monotonous a little even now)
 
We paid a visit to Prasat Sa Khamphaeng Yai in order to update my "Royal Road" internet page. We were not impressed.
