Scones: What should go on first - jam or cream?

I like putting the cream on first because I see it as the icing and the jam serves as the cherry on to. I don't have much trouble placing the jelly on after the cream since I usually would just drop a dollop instead do trying to spread it.

I've never had a scone but I did just google it to see exactly what it is. I saw mixed reactions on what goes on first when making them, though. I can't really say because I've never eaten one or made them before.

dairy free marg first! (since I can't have butter), then jam, then soya cream... but then they have to be homemade scones to be dairy free in the first place, so they would be choc chip scones and fresh out f the oven so not needing jam or cream
