What does the world eat for breakfast?

That is just bad luck :) An omelette, as you know, is a world wide universal meal and it is not Serbian made only. I do not know where were those places where you had your breakfast but pretty much every where in Serbia you can find Pljeskavica ( burger), Burek ( A type of Serbian pie). When i say everywhere, i mean literally everywhere. This is especially true for pljeskavica. I ask about the places you visited because different parts of Serbia have different specialities. I'll show you here.
This is PLJESKAVICA

You should have gone to KAFANA ( Small Restaurant), which is an ethno-restaurant and a basic drinking place for an average Serb. Like a tavern in Greece.

I really didn't know that. My bad. I am a vegetarian my self and i eat diary products and eggs. Same problem here. There are no good places for vegans or vegetarians in Serbia. You could ask for fries and some salads ( we have good ones), or if you go to some fast food you can omit the ham and ask for mushrooms instead like i do. Anyway, we do not have some special vegetarian meals. You have to pick from what they offer. I had a small fast food restaurant and several vegetarian meals and sandwiches on menu. I made vegan/vegetarian burgers and cheeseburgers, sandwiches with grilled peppers and zucchini. Also i had fast meals , like happy meals. Fries, a salad, grilled mushrooms, small triangled French toasts, melted cheadar and some sauce. I had to close the store because people here rally like meat. And i had meat too but money was a problem too.

I am from India which is a culturally diverse country. Each region has its own unique dishes. I am from Punjab where the most popular breakfast is aloo ke paranthe with butter, pickle and curd.

For breakfast, I love a fried egg, bacon, toast and hashbrowns, that's my weekend breakfast. My other favourite breakfast to make are omelettes filled with cheese, spinach, onions and ham. Delicious. On a week day and I'm in rush breakfast is usually toast and peanut butter with honey or a breakfast pita filled with scrambled egg and chopped ham. If I'm really in a rush it's a yogurt and some fruit to go. My husband's favourite breakfast has to steak and eggs. My kids love pancakes or waffles with Canadian maple syrup on top. I think anything goes for breakfast.
